KIMS - Key Injection Management System

KIMS is a web-based terminal and host key injection system that allows terminal deployers to inject keys directly from remote sites. Keys are randomly generated using a hardware encryption device and injected electronically, eliminating the need for physical handling.

Who uses KIMS?

•  Terminal Deployers

•  Banks and other Financial Institutions

•  Terminal Asset Managers

•  Third-Party Processors

Security Features

•  SSL (Secure Socket Layer) is activated

•  Entrust® site certificate is used to

   authenticate KIMS website

•  Additional encryption modules are used on

the client and server for the transmission of

sensitive data such as passwords and keys

Key Benefits and Features

•   Automates terminal and host key entry

•   Real-time dynamic key generation

•   Eliminates the need for multiple key custodians

(I person for KIMS vs. 4 people for a manual process)

•   Saves time. Reduces key injection process from

approximately 30 minutes to 7 seconds

•   Eliminates errors created by human entry

•   More secure

•   Supports multiple POS terminal platforms

Hardware/Software Requirements

•  Windows NT Workstation 4.0

•  HYPERCOM FIP20 with serial port cable

•  Internet Explorer 5.5 or higher

•  Internet access

How does it work?

Once web access is established, the POS device is connected to the web client browser through the FIP connector, at which point the KIMS web client can initiate the injection process. The keys are injected simultaneously into the host database and the POS device.
